1. Giving Advice
2. Talking about a Personal Experience
3. Describing a Scene
4. Making Predictions
5. Comparing and Persuading
6. Dealing with a Difficult Situation
7. Expressing Opinions回答“Do you think…?”
8. Describing an Unusual Situation

Content/Coherence
Task Fulfillment

称呼对方,或者点明主旨:“Hi Mark, I think you should…”。

要点之间用过渡语衔接:“Another thing you could do is…”“On top of that…”。

Anyway, I hope this helps. Good luck!”

任务 1:Giving Advice(提建议)

When I moved to Vancouver, researching schools first saved me a lot of stress.

表达:

  • I'm glad you asked me about this.

  • If I were you, I would…

  • The first thing I'd suggest is…

  • It might be a good idea to… because…

  • Another thing you could do is…

  • Whatever you do, make sure you…

  • One last piece of advice:…

  • I'm sure you'll do great. Let me know how it goes!

Hi Anna, I heard you're starting a new job next week. Congratulations! If I were you, I would plan the route the day before, because…

任务 2:Talking about a Personal Experience(个人经历)

Last summer…、When I was in college…。

表达:

  • I'd like to tell you about a time when…

  • This happened about two years ago, when I…

  • At first, I…

  • Then, out of nowhere,…

  • To make things worse,…

  • In the end,…

  • I felt so relieved / proud / embarrassed.

  • Looking back, I realize that…

I'd like to tell you about a time when I got lost in a new city. It was my first week in Calgary, and my phone had just died…

用现在进行时(is choosing、are playing),并说清每个细节在图中的位置:in the top left corner、in the bottom half、beside the tree。 Alright, I hope I've given you a clear picture of the scene.

表达:

  • This picture shows a busy… on a sunny afternoon.

  • In the foreground, there's…

  • In the background, I can see…

  • On the left-hand side / On the right,…

  • Right in the middle of the picture,…

  • A young man in a blue jacket is…

  • It looks like…

  • Overall, the atmosphere seems relaxed / chaotic.

This picture shows a crowded farmers' market on a sunny weekend. In the foreground, an elderly woman is choosing tomatoes, while…

任务 4:Making Predictions(预测)

交替使用 will、is going to 和情态动词,别总用同一种句式。

  • I think in the next few minutes…

  • It looks like… is about to…

  • … is probably going to…

  • There's a good chance that…

  • … might / could…

  • Judging by…, I'd say…

  • As a result, …will probably feel…

  • By the end of the day,…

Judging by the dark clouds, I'd say it's about to rain. The woman with the tomatoes is probably going to hurry to her car, and…

任务 5:Comparing and Persuading(比较与说服)

Yes, it's more expensive, but it will last for years. I know you're leaning towards…, but hear me out.

表达:

  • I see why you like…, but I really think… is the better choice.

  • First of all, … is much cheaper / closer / bigger than…

  • Unlike…, my option…

  • While… has…, it doesn't have…

  • On top of that,…

  • In the long run,…

  • Considering…, it just makes more sense to…

  • So, I'd strongly recommend we go with…

I see why you like the downtown apartment, but I really think the one near the park is the better choice. First of all, it's two hundred dollars cheaper per month…

任务 6:Dealing with a Difficult Situation(应对棘手情况)

Look, this is a bit awkward, but let me be honest with you.

表达:

  • I really need to talk to you about something.

  • I know this isn't what you want to hear, but…

  • I've thought about it a lot, and I've decided to…

  • The main reason is that…

  • I hope you can understand that…

  • I'm really sorry about…

  • How about we… instead?

  • I hope this won't change anything between us.

Hi Tom, I really need to talk to you about the camping trip. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I've decided not to go this weekend…

任务 7:Expressing Opinions(发表观点)

Do you think cities should ban cars from downtown?

  • In my opinion,… / I strongly believe that…

  • There are three main reasons why I feel this way.

  • First of all,…

  • For example,…

  • Another reason is that…

  • Some people might argue that…, but…

  • Last but not least,…

  • That's why I'm convinced that…

I strongly believe that cities should ban cars from downtown. There are three main reasons why I feel this way. First of all, the air would be much cleaner…

Opinions and Points of View 词汇集里,可以导入 Polidict 练习。

任务 8:Describing an Unusual Situation(描述不寻常的物品)

想不起准确的词,就换个简单的说法:a thing that looks like a small umbrella。

Wow, this is really hard to describe. Give me a second.

  • Hi Sam, it's me. I'm at the store and I just saw the strangest…

  • It's about the size of…

  • It's shaped like a… / It looks a bit like…

  • It's made of… and it's bright orange.

  • The weird thing about it is that…

  • On top of it, there's…

  • I think it would be perfect for…

  • Anyway, let me know what you think. Talk to you later!

Hi Sam, it's me. I'm at the furniture store and I just saw the strangest chair. It's shaped like a giant hand, and it's made of…

Polidict。 If I were you、in the long run、judging by

“There is a tree. There is a dog. There is a car”听起来像在念清单。
