The app covers the full vocabulary learning cycle on your phone: adding and organizing words, training in different formats, tracking progress, and working offline. If you already use Polidict on the web, the mobile app syncs with your account. Your words, groups, and progress carry over automatically. Here is what it can do.

Vocabulary

The main screen is your vocabulary. Each word appears as a card with an image, definition, translation, and the groups it belongs to. You can search across all your words, filter by group, and quickly open the full card of any word to see examples, comments, and related content.

This is not just a review screen. You can add new words, edit definitions and translations, attach images, and launch a training session directly from the current filtered view.

Trainings

The app includes seven training modes: mixed, quiz, flashcards, writing, speaking, listening, and matching. You can run trainings for your entire vocabulary or for a specific group of words.

Each mode has its own screen with clear instructions. Flashcards show the word image and play pronunciation on tap. Quiz gives you a definition and four answer choices with immediate visual feedback. Speaking and listening modes use the phone's microphone and speaker, the kind of exercises that are actually easier to do on a phone than at a desk.

Different modes test different skills: recognition, recall, spelling, pronunciation. A word you can recognize in a list may still be hard to spell or say out loud. That is why the app does not force everything into one format.

Collections and groups

Collections are themed word sets curated by Polidict: exam preparation, everyday vocabulary, professional topics, and more. Each collection shows a cover image, a short description, and the number of items inside. You can preview the contents and import the whole set in one tap. This is useful when you do not want to start from an empty vocabulary or need to get into a new topic quickly.

Groups are your own word sets. You can create, edit, and share them. All your groups are listed on one screen with quick access to each group's contents. Groups directly affect how you study: you can run a training for just one group, keep separate themes for different goals, or share a public group with someone else.

Suggestions

Suggestions give you personalized word recommendations based on your learning history. You can specify a topic or just tap "Generate" and let the system pick words for you. It is a quick way to discover new material without leaving the app.

Offline mode

The app works without internet. Your vocabulary, groups, and training results are stored locally on the device. When you are offline, you can still browse words, run trainings, and save results. When the connection comes back, everything syncs automatically.

For a phone app, this matters. People study in the subway, on flights, and in areas with spotty signal, and the app keeps working.

How to start

  1. Download Polidict from the App Store.

  2. Choose your study language and native language.

  3. Add your first words or import a ready-made collection.

  4. Launch a mixed training session.
