Your own vocabulary and ready-made material

In Polidict, you can create entries, add meanings and examples, organize words into groups, and choose existing collections. This suits learners who already know which vocabulary they want to practise.

Comparing practice

Polidict has writing, meaning, listening, and pronunciation exercises. Spaced repetition uses practice results; the FSRS v6 article explains the scheduling approach. This does not guarantee a particular learning speed or exam score.

Try the same small list in both services. Check whether an exercise asks you to recall a word or recognize an answer, how it explains mistakes, and whether the explanations help you. One exercise type does not represent the whole service.

Can you move a Memrise course?

Polidict reads compatible community-course export files. It imports words and a second column that you can save as meanings or translations. Learning history and review schedules do not transfer. Memrise audio, images, and examples are not imported either.

Test a few entries using the Memrise import guide. It covers the file format, preview, and row selection. Do not assume that new word lists from the main Memrise app work with the older community-course exporter.

Polidict works in a browser, has an iPhone app, and runs an active closed Android beta. Use the website for course imports.
