Polidict for Raycast: quick vocabulary on Mac
Last updated: May 27, 2026
Polidict for Raycast is now available in the Raycast Store. It is a Mac extension for working with your vocabulary without switching away from the app you are already using.
The basic workflow is simple: you read an article, email, or documentation page, notice a word you want to remember, open Raycast, run Polidict, and save the word to your vocabulary. Later, that word comes back in Polidict trainings.

When it helps
The Raycast extension is best for short actions throughout the day:
check a word without opening the website;
save a word from selected text or manual input;
find a word already saved in your vocabulary;
run a few flashcards or quiz questions between other tasks;
check groups, streaks, or learning stats.
It does not replace the website or mobile app. The website is better for longer vocabulary management, and the mobile app is better for full trainings, speaking, and listening. Raycast is for moments when you are already working on a Mac and do not want to lose context.
How to start
Install Polidict from the Raycast Store.
Sign in to your Polidict account with Google or an email magic link.
Select your learning language and native language.
Run Lookup Word or Quick Add Word.
A Polidict account is required. Raycast Pro is optional, but it enables AI definitions through Raycast AI when there is no prepared definition for a word.
The main workflow: notice a word and save it
Suppose you are reading an English article and see a word you want to review later.
Select or copy the word.
Open Raycast.
Run Quick Add Word or Lookup Word.
Check the definition.
Save the word to Polidict.
After that, the word is no longer a loose note. It is in your vocabulary, can be assigned to a group, and can appear later in trainings.
What the extension can do
| Command | Purpose |
| Lookup Word | Find a word, check definitions, and add it to your vocabulary |
| View Vocabulary | Browse, filter, edit, or delete saved words |
| Start Training | Start a short training session without opening the website |
| Quick Add Word | Save a word from typed or selected text |
| Manage Groups | Create, edit, and delete vocabulary groups |
| View Stats | Check streaks, training history, and learning stats |
These commands do not cover all of Polidict. They cover the frequent actions that are comfortable from the keyboard.
Word lookup
The Lookup Word command checks several sources:
words you have already saved;
prepared definitions from Polidict blueprints;
AI definitions through Raycast AI when available and when there is no prepared result.
If the word is already in your vocabulary, the extension shows the saved entry. If it is new, you can create a useful entry without filling every field manually.
Vocabulary, groups, and quick edits
The View Vocabulary command opens your vocabulary in Raycast. From there, you can search words, filter by group, open details, edit definitions, or delete items you no longer need.

This is useful for quick edits. For example: correct a definition, add the word to the right group, and get back to work.
Short trainings
The Start Training command lets you run a short training session directly in Raycast. Current formats:
Quiz β choose the correct definition for a word;
Quiz Reverse β choose the word from a definition;
Flashcard β review cards with front and back.

This does not replace full training sessions on the website or mobile app, but it works well for a few minutes of review while you are already on your Mac.
Stats
The View Stats command shows learning stats, streaks, and training history. It is a quick way to check whether you have trained today without opening the website.
Who this is for
Polidict for Raycast helps most if you often work with text on Mac:
reading articles or documentation in another language;
writing emails, notes, or work documents;
collecting vocabulary for an exam or professional topic;
already using Raycast as your main way to launch actions.
If you study mostly on your phone, start with the Polidict mobile app. If you want to understand how review timing affects learning, read about FSRS v6 in Polidict.
Summary
Polidict for Raycast creates a short path between a word you notice on Mac and a word that later appears in your learning. Instead of a loose note or a forgotten tab, you get a vocabulary entry, groups, trainings, and stats in the same Polidict system.
